“Committed to Christ … Committed to Our Community”
Welcome to the Lakewood Church of Christ
Looking for a new church home, or just wondering what this whole church thing is about? Take some time to look through our website and discover how we are involved with the community, with ministries like Foothills Field of Dreams, Whiz Kids, Dry Bones Denver, Purple Door Coffee and others. And we also have a lot of fun family activities coming up. We would also love to have you come and worship with us every Sunday morning at 10:00 AM.
HEARING IMPAIRED? WE HAVE SIGNERS AVAILABLE DURING EVERY SERVICE. PLEASE JOIN US SUNDAYS FOR WORSHIP TO GOD.
Lakewood Church announces staff transitions:
1. Rob & Tami Duncan have been dreaming and feeling the call from the Lord to work in a full-time pulpit preaching position. They will begin exploring opportunities this month in search of where and in what work and ministry the Lord wants them next. They will continue to serve our teen ministry until the end of December 2015, unless the Lord opens the door and puts something in front of them sooner. Rob and Tami have had such a powerful impact on the lives of our teens and have such a special place in our hearts that this will definitely be a sad transition. But we are happy that God will be able to use them in new ways in new places to continue to grow His kingdom. They already have plans for our teen ministry through this fall semester as per usual. Rob will be assisting us in providing a smooth transition as we search for new youth minister.
2. Reg & Amy Cox – Reg have been our pulpit minister and has led adult education, community connections and our staff for the past 13 years. Reg’s role will shift this fall in several ways. Reg, Steve and Rob will continue to share pulpit duties and sermon planning. But beginning this fall Reg will reduce his time in order to transition to leadership for our Life Groups and increase his work in the community. Reg will continue leading Adult Ed and be involved in pastoral ministry and vision leadership of our church working beside the elders and Steve.
As you know, Life Groups are a high priority in our church family. Life Groups are the backbone of our body life supporting the relationships, outreach and service of our church. Reg brings years of small group leadership and curriculum development experience to this area and we look forward to his influence on this core ministry in our church.
Reg’s role in community development and citywide relationship building has led to the facilitation of projects such as Whiz Kids, Severe Weather Shelter Network and several annual neighborhood events from which the Lakewood church has received benefit. Reg’s community development work will expand this fall. He is actively seeking funds within the community to support this effort which will help our church accomplish its mission to reach more people for Christ.
We believe it is important for everyone to understand that these changes reflect the calling that both Reg and Rob are receiving from the Lord. After much prayer, contemplation and conversation, the Shepherds agree. These men are being faithful to where they believe the Lord is leading them and we fully support them as they seek His will and they fully support our church family.
3. Steve and Dawn Curtis – In light of Reg’s increased community focus we have asked Steve to serve as Interim Lead Minister in addition to his current role as Spiritual Growth Minister.
Your Shepherds feel very blessed to be able to serve you and we look forward to the next chapter in the continuing story of the Lakewood Church. If you have any questions or concerns you are encouraged to talk with us. On Sunday, September 13, we’ll celebrate the future direction of the Lakewood Church as we launch into the last quarter of this year. We’ll unfold more detail of our longer term vision in the coming months. Frankly, we’re pretty excited about the way God has worked in and through this church and we have great anticipation for what He will be doing on the road that lies ahead.
